Wax Lake

The Wax Lake Spillway is one of the flood outlets draining the Atchafalaya River Basin into the Gulf of Mexico, in this case via Atchafalaya Bay.

Where "the Wax" crosses the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (at mile 108WHL) it can be a hazard to navigation, depending on the speed of current. The Intracoastal runs east-west, and the spillway flows south.
