NOAA Data Buoys

NOAA's National Data Buoy Center maintains a fleet of floating data buoys and fixed C-MAN (Coastal-Marine Automated Network) stations. The C-MAN stations and the buoys give wind direction, wind speed, atmospheric pressure and air temperature. In addition, the buoys give wave height, wave period, water temperature and dew point. Five digits (like 42036) indicate a moored buoy. Letters and numbers (like CSBF1) indicate a fixed station, usually on dry land.
