ABOUT THE WHEELHOUSE REPORT NAVIGATION CENTER
This whole thing grew out of your webmaster's frustration with going to multiple government agency web sites (and waiting for all kinds of unnecessary graphics to load) just to find a few river stages and other data.
Here, all the waterway forecast documents I could find are divided by waterway, instead of by government agency. So if both the National Weather Service and the Corps of Engineers have river stages for, say, the Kookamonga River, you'll find links to both under the same Kookamonga River heading. That way, if one link's not working (or not updated yet) you can try another.
Every attempt has been made to link directly to text-only documents. They're a lot quicker to load. This is especially important if you're on a boat using a laptop and a cellular phone. It's also good for those who check waterway conditions every morning, and don't particularly want to sit and wait for the same cute graphics day after @#$&* day.
You'll also notice that each link opens in a separate browser window. Very convenient if you have a dial-up connection. You can open the links you're interested in, then get off the phone, and all those browser windows are still there on your desktop waiting for you to peruse their respective contents.
If you expect to return to the Navigation Center on a regular basis,
you'll want to bookmark it exactly like this:
