Dedicated to protecting and restoring America's river systems. The organization was founded in 1973 to expand the number of rivers protected by the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.

Galveston Bay Conservation & Preservation Association
Founded in 1974 to keep the Bay waterways and adjacent land areas suitable as a recreational and living environment.

International Rivers Network
An organization working to halt the construction of certain river development projects and to promote sound river management options worldwide.
Izaak Walton League - Save Our Streams
They help governments, businesses and individuals with projects in all fifty states to help monitor, protect and restore waterways.
Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation
Dedicated to restoring and preserving the Lake Pontchartrain Basin (north of New Orleans) through coordination of restoration activities, education, advocacy, monitoring of the regulatory process, and citizen action.
Living Lands and Waters
This is the organization formed by Chad Pregracke, the "river rat" who spent two summers picking up trash along the Mississippi River. His plans for 2003 include Ohio and Missouri River clean-ups, tree planting on Mississippi River islands, and a "floating classroom" (a barge) for educational workshops.
Mississippi Headwaters Board
A joint-powers board of the first eight counties on the Mississippi River. MHB was organized to protect and preserve the natural, cultural, scenic, scientific and recreational values of the river's first 400 miles.
Mississippi River Basin Alliance
A coalition uniting environmental justice organizations and traditional conservation groups around issues impacting the Mississippi River.
Missouri Chapter of the American Fisheries Society
MOAFS is a scientific and professional organization dedicated to the conservation, enhancement, and restoration of aquatic resources.
 Mobile Bay Watch
Working to protect and preserve the quality of life in the Mobile Bay area. Their BayKeeper program plans to monitor and take action on pollution incidents.
Pamlico-Tar River Foundation
Concerned with the river basin emptying into Pamlico Sound in North Carolina, and connecting with the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. PTRF maintains a library of educational materials about the river, pollution, and water quality. They helped establish an estuary aquarium - the North Carolina Estuarium.
River Alliance of Wisconsin
Concerned with protecting and restoring Wisconsin's rivers and their watersheds.
River Network
Helps people organize to protect and restore rivers and watersheds.
Rivers Council of Minnesota
Helps people protect, restore and enjoy the state's 92,000 miles of rivers by building awareness of river resources, monitoring river health, and promoting actions that protect and enhance the ecological integrity of rivers.
Rivers Unlimited
Ohio's statewide river preservation organization, working to preserve and restore the state's rivers and watersheds. Since 1972, they have provided services to local river groups and individuals working to protect their local waterways. Their current projects include a greenways initiative, the restoration of Cincinatti's Mill Creek, and working on state legislation.

A non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the oceans, waves and beaches..
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Environmental Division
Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Fund
Concerned with protecting the Chattahoochee, which flows from the mountains of north Georgia through the city of Atlanta and along the Georgia-Alabama border to Apalachicola Bay in the Florida panhandle.
West Virginia Rivers Coalition
Founded in 1989 to educate citizens, public officials, and media about the values of clean, free-flowing rivers and streams. The headwaters of several of the major river systems in the mid-Atlantic region gather in West Virginia to form the Potomac, Monongahela and Kanawha rivers.
