The U.S. government's only official chartmaker, and the oldest U.S. scientific organization, dating from 1807. Promotes safe navigation by managing NOAA's nautical chart data collection and information programs.
Dartmouth Flood Observatory
A research tool for detection, mapping, measurement, and analysis of extreme flood events world-wide using satellite remote sensing. The Global Flood Monitoring and Analysis Project provides comprehensive catalogs of large river floods, and is developing methods for obtaining globally-consistent measurements of these events. Resources used include cloud-penetrating radar imagers aboard European Remote Sensing Satellites, the Canadian-American Radarsat, NASA's AIRSAR/TOPSAR airborne sensor, Landsat-7, NOAA's AVHRR sensors, and others.
The Institute of Navigation
A non-profit professional society dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of navigation. It serves a diverse community including those interested in air, space, marine, land navigation, and position determination.
